For fire safety reasons, only materials with sufficient certification are permitted at UZH for events, particularly in escape and rescue routes. Only non-combustible materials certified in accordance with the VKF1 fire protection standard applicable in Switzerland may be used in escape and rescue routes.
(RF1) applicable in Switzerland. Certifications in accordance with the EU standard SN EN 13501-1:2009, which has been adopted in Switzerland, may also be accepted. For temporary events, materials that are considered “flame-retardant” may be permitted after a detailed risk analysis, may be permitted. Certifications according to the German standard DIN 4102 (such as B1 or B2) cannot be accepted, nor can certificates according to the French standard NF P 92-503 (such as M1 and M2).
