Welcome to the career platform of UZH Career Services. Here are questions and answers about using the instrument to help you get started. General questions
- Which language is used in the respective event? Normally, the language of the event description (not the title!) is the language of the event. Deviations are specifically mentioned.
- I am registered as a student and can not register for an event. In this case, please contact info@careerservices.uzh.ch directly. Thanks a lot!
- Why do I have to log in? To sign up for Career Services events, you need to log in. This is simply done via AAI. The data we receive from you is your name, surname, and faculty. If you want to use the CV database, we recommend that you fill in the profile.
- Is it possible to look at jobs without registration? Yes, the positions are freely visible to all.
- Can I also use the platform before I study/graduate from UZH / Non-UZH student? Our services are generally open to students, doctoral students, post-docs during their time at the UZH until 1 year after graduation. For exceptions contact info@careerservices.uzh.ch please What you can always use is the view before login, which means the job advertisements, employer profiles, and the courses.
- What does "sign up" mean, what do you "advertise"? When registering, you are directly registered for the event. When applying, the organizers decide who may take part in the event. At the events with an application, we always try to ensure that it is clearly communicated what the admission criteria are. Nevertheless, the organizers make the decision without having to give reasons. We hope for your understanding.
- What happens if I cancel my registration too late or not at all? In most cases you can unsubscribe until the day before the event. If you are unable to attend the day, be sure to contact us by e-mail at info@careerservices.uzh.ch. So maybe we can pass the free capacities on to other students. Subsequent excuses are accepted only in exceptional cases. Registered participants who are absent from a workshop, mock interview or consultation without being excused are excluded from registering for further events with a limited number of participants (workshops, consultations, mock interviews). This exclusion can only be waived if you pay a fee of CHF 50.- from Career Services, Schönberggasse 15 (SOB). -- This regulation starts by January 2020.
- I no longer have AAI access. UZH Career Services offers are available for up to 1 year after completion. If you no longer have AAI access, please contact us by e-mail info@careerservices.uzh.ch. stating your name, first name, date of graduation (graduation ceremony or similar) and the desired event. We will register you for the event.
Questions about the profile
- How do I create a new password? If you don't have an AAI account, you can use the "Forgot password" function to create a new password and have it sent to you. The notification will be sent to the email address stored on your profile.
- Will filter functions also show jobs that have no value listed in this field? When you enter a filter, only the jobs that match the filter presets appear. If using filters, we recommend using several similar filters.
- Why should I specify in the profile for which industries I am interested? Employers can gain access to the CV database, where they can search for interesting profiles. One possible search criterion is the industry.
- Do I need a profile picture? It's your profile, you decide how you appear on the platform.
- Do I have to fill out everything in my profile? Again, it's your profile, you choose how you appear on the platform. When you open your details for employers, we suggest that you post a completed profile.
- Why should I activate my profile information? If your profile is not visible, companies can not find it or invite you to events. If you register for an event yourself, the organizer will see your name, your photo and possibly your shared profile areas.
- I do not know my exact start/finish dates, what / why should I specify in my profile? Use the 1st of a month, and for the end of your studies the approximate month, when you think to complete your studies.
- How can I add the minor? The platform knows only major. Major 1 is clear and 2nd Major is your minor.
- Why do I have to enter my home address? You do not have to, you can also specify a fake address - just remember that you use a fake address when communicating with employers through the platform.
General questions
- Can I apply with the CV that I can download on the platform? Does this meet the requirements? No, the CV does not meet the requirements for an application. You can find more information on the design of a CV at https://www.careerservices.uzh.ch/de/ratgeber/bewerbung/bewerbungsdossier.html However, you can use the automatic CV well for a consultation.
- Can I contact companies directly? If the companies have given an email address you can of course.
- My profile is not working, where do I have to contact you? Contact us by email info@careerservices.uzh.ch.
- I want to advertise myself for a student job myself (as a student), can I do that on this platform? You can. However, you have to register as a company.
- What about privacy? The data is hosted in Zurich by Switch and the platform operator has signed the privacy policy required by UZH. In any case check your privacy settings, so the correct information is locked.
Frequently asked questions (employers)
- We had a customer account on the old platform. What do we have to do now? In order to place jobs on the new platform, you need a new customer account. Keep in mind that this account also includes an employer profile that gives you the opportunity to provide more information about your business.
- Do I have to use a logo? You do not have to, but your job ad is better presented in the overview.
- What is the size of the background image / key visual? The pictures adapt to the screen size, but a good size according to experience is 1200x330 pixels
- Where do we find the prices? The prices are listed at https://uzhcareer.ch/en/corporate-services/
- How long will my event be published The event will be activated until the time of the event. If the registration period expires earlier and you want to remove the advertisement, you can do so via your account.
- How will my competition etc. be published? An advertisement for a competition will be published 4 weeks before the deadline. This prevents long-lasting programs from always being listed at the top.
